The latest FOMC policy statement, which was released at 2:15 PM ET, was little changed from previous directives in that the Fed has left its target federal funds rate unchanged at a range of 0.00% to 0.25% and the Fed continues to expect an exceptionally low level for an extended period of time.

Though the market moved higher in the moments after the Fed statement, it ran into a bit of resistance near the session highs that were registered this morning. However, stocks were able to regain an upward momentum to set fresh session highs, but they have since started to slip a bit.
