Cyber Monday Draws Millions of Shoppers Online

Cyber Monday is one of the busiest online shopping days of the year. One survey shows more than 30% of this year's holiday shopping will happen online. This is expected to be the biggest Cyber Monday ever.
The unofficial shopping holiday is gaining popularity among both shoppers and online retailers. If the black Friday crowds were too much to handle, Cyber Monday might be a little more calm.
Some shoppers like the idea of avoiding lines and not having to fight over what they want.
"If there's something that we absolutely can't find, I'll find it online," said Scott Johnston.
Cyber Monday is the Monday after Thanksgiving, when people go back to work. The official website offers deals from more than 500 online retailers. According to the National Retail Federation, nearly 75% of online retailers will offer special promotions this Cyber Monday. One of the most popular promotions: free shipping.
Still, we talked to some shoppers in local stores who say this year, they're staying away from the online hype.
"I like to see what I'm getting other than just looking at it over the internet," said Cindy Heyde.
Jami Saylor says he does all his shopping in stores now.
"We had a couple things come to us that wasn't even our orders," Saylor told WSBT. "Bad prices on stuff, [we] ordered one thing that wasn't even what we ordered, just haven't had a good experience with it."
There are tips to make sure your Cyber Monday experience is a smooth one.
- Compare prices with those on other sites.
- Make sure you know the return policy before typing in credit card information.
- Credit Cards are the safest way to pay, if you shop on a secure website.
- Secure sites should have an 's' in the https:// at the top of the page, or a padlock on the screen. But these sometimes don't show up until you're ready to pay.

Some surveys show today is not the busiest online shopping day of the year just one of the busiest.
Research shows some age groups are more likely to shop online while at work. Young adults, ages 18-24 make up nearly 73% of people who shop online while they're working.
Another interesting statistic shows MEN are more likely than women to shop online while they're at work.
